With the spread of Coronavirus disease around the world, it’s important to take extra precautions to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. The government has asked people to stay quartine themselves to decrease the spread of the virus. However, people still need to go out to buy necessities. This also includes their medications.

So what can you do to protect yourself, as well as the pharmacy staff, the next time you pick up your prescription?

Get your prescriptions delivered by a local pharmacy — Many pharmacies that offer contactless deliveries for prescription medications. In this way, you don’t have to leave your home to buy your medications. However, you need to keep in that you might need to pay additional delivery charges to get medicines at your home.

Use a mail-order pharmacy — These pharmacies are not your local pharmacies, so you will not get your medicines the day you fill your prescription. So if you plan to use mail order pharmacy to buy your medicines, make sure you plan ahead. Don’t forget to check the expiry dates of medicines you receive via mail order.

Ask someone else to pick up your medications — if you’re under flu or have tested positive for COVID-19. Tell someone else to pick up medicines for you from the pharmacy. This way you can risk of virus spread. You can ask your friends, family or spouse to go for you. If you don’t have someone who can pick up medicines on your behalf, ensure to use the pharmacy drive-thru if available, wash your hands, cover your face, and keep away from others as best as you can.

Another thing you need to keep in mind is to use a free prescription discount card to buy your medicines at lesser prices.
